Bass-baritone Michael Colman has performed roles from Mozart’s Figaro (Le nozze di Figaro) and Rossini’s Basilio (Il barbiere di Siviglia) to Britten’s Collatinus (The Rape of Lucretia) and Puccini’s Schaunard (La bohème). Michael made his professional debut as an Apprentice Artist with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City and went on to perform leading and supporting roles with Virginia Opera, Chautauqua Opera, Dayton Opera, Toledo Opera, Opera Carolina, Opera Grand Rapids, Indianapolis Opera, Opera on the James, Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre, Fayetteville Opera, and Charlottesville Opera. He earned degrees from Baylor University and the University of Kansas studying under Dr. John Stephens. An avid art song and concert singer, Michael recently performed in recital with Warren Jones at the Manchester Music Festival and with the Dayton Philharmonic in Handel’s Messiah. Upcoming engagements include The Commentator (Scalia/Ginsburg) with Opera in the Rock, Father (Thumbprint), Angelotti (Tosca), and Ulysses S. Grant (The Mother of us All) with Chautauqua Opera, The King of Egypt (Aida) with Toledo Opera, and Guglielmo (Così fan tutte) with Opera Grand Rapids.
